Technology and Head Wounds (Microscope IV)

Isn't it amazing how much personal technology has advanced in just the last 10 years?

For example, back in January 2005 when I hit my head on the sharp corner of a low-hanging aluminum awning while walking down the street on my way to work, this is the best picture we could get using our digital camera of the two staples the emergency room doctor put in my scalp:

Not too impressive, eh? It's so shaky, you can barely make out the two little metal bars holding together the Y-shaped gash.

Conversely, take a look at this amazing picture that Heather took with her cell phone of the four staples that I had put in my scalp today (just 8 years later) after hitting my head forcefully on the corner of an open kitchen cabinet door:

I mean, just look at that clarity! I encourage you to click on the photo and really zoom in. You can see each individual hair. That's amazing, just really and truly amazing.

Now, I can't guarantee that I'll hit my head and need staples again 8 years from now, but if I do, you can be sure I'll post the three-dimensional holo-photo that Heather takes with her computerized contact lenses.
